Throes + The Shine, an Angolan-Portuguese band that has been in activity since 2011, spearheaded by Mob Dedaldino, Igor Domingues and Marco Castro and renowned for their exuberant concerts, are preparing for the Spring release of Kalunga, their sixth album. ‘Drena’, which will be coming out on the 23rd of February, marks the latest single of this upcoming new record. And with it, the group is dropping a vibrant song that tries to evoke the importance of embracing not only what brings us happiness, but also what feeds us with emotional and cultural growth. Characterized by a mesh between the rhythms of semba and zouk, and with a markedly electronic melodic composition, ‘Drena’ is an Afro-Pop gem that represents just one of the musical grounds that Throes + The Shine visited on Kalunga. A record on which the trio will provide their audience with a journey through many sounds, emotions and dreams, in a constant search for the release and joy that music and dance can bring to our lives.
